Loss, catastrophic loss, can be unbearable, shocking, and overwhelming.

Bereavement can be traumatic when the death is of someone very close, or if the body is found in shocking circumstances.

It is particularly hard to recover from bereavement if there has been early bereavement or traumatic loss. Many people will recover from bereavement quickly, some will not. Recent research recognises about two years as a 'healthy' greiving period.

We treat bereavement through psychotherapy combined with EMDR or Lifespan Integration.. This is normally a short term therapy, but very often the resolution of the bereavement causes deeper attachment issues to surface.
