Bereavement can be traumatic when the death is sudden, or is of someone very close, or if the body is found in shocking circumstances.

It is particularly hard to recover from bereavement if there has also been early bereavement or traumatic loss. Many people will recover from bereavement quickly, some will not. Recent research recognises about two years as a 'healthy' grieving period.

We treat bereavement through psychotherapy combined with EMDR or Lifespan Integration.. This is normally a short-term therapy, but we often find that the resolution of the bereavement can allow deeper attachment issues to surface.
